Santa Barbara yoga teacher, Daniel Geiger

Daniel Geiger

Bio: I have practiced yoga for about 12 years prior to completing RYT200 training at Divinitree in May 2019. I approach yoga as a workout using body-weight, while paying attention to breath to movement coordination and alignment.

I gravitate towards energetic flows where we work towards peak poses involving inversions and forearm balances, complemented by strength-building slow and intentional transitions. I enjoy putting together a soundtrack with eclectic juxtapositions such as traditional arabic rebec & tambourine pieces and recent dark-wave releases.

I earned a Ph.D. in marine biology from University of Southern California in 1999 where I taught for a few years. I research systematics of marine snails and also orchids as a curator at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. I am exploring opportunities for combining science & natural history with yoga.
